Asana

Asana – Physical practice

This limb is the one we are most familiar in the Western world. Asanas are the postures which discipline the body in order to develop the ability to concentrate, the pre-requisite for meditation. The actual translation of the Sanskrit word ‘asana’ is ‘seat’. The poses offers the practitioner the challenge and opportunity to explore and take charge of all aspects of their emotions, concentration, intent, faith, and the sense of unity between the physical and the ethereal body. Through asana we use our bodies to gain a better understanding between body, mind, and spirit. Every time you step on the mat, your practice will be different, as it all depends on how your body and mind are feeling at that very moment in time.
